Shapwick Reserve Coming on Leaps and Bounds – Despite the Weather!

In the face of an atrocious weather forecast the work day on our reserve on the Somerset Levels, Shapwick Moor, on 5 January 2014 was postponed until Sunday 25 January 2014.

However, in spite of the wet conditions there have still been lots of developments. Simon Beard, our Education and Outreach Officer (Reserve Development manager too!!) reports that they have been incredibly busy recently on the reserve with scrapes and pond dug and now full of water, ditches cleared, burms excavated, and that the building work on the main hide has hopefully started by now and foundations going in for the second hide once we get some drier weather (if we ever do!).

For more details of work days or to be put on the volunteer mailing list, please contact Barry on baz.gray@btinternet.com.
