Find out what has been happening across the Hawk and Owl Trust throughout 2014/15!
It has been a very busy year for the Hawk and Owl Trust across all of our reserves. The continual development of all of our sites to protect the habitats of wild birds of prey has been one of the key themes and with regular sightings of a range of owls, buzzards, marsh harriers and many more across all of our sites. Another key theme has been to work with an increasing number of landowners across the British countryside, without which, significant conservation measures would be virtually impossible.
Our new Farmland Bird of Prey Initiative has been a big part of this; we have had an incredible take up from local landowners across East Anglia to work with us in developing their land as habitat for wild birds of prey and providing next boxes to encourage increased breeding success.
Many of our groups across the country have had great success this year, including the East Midlands Group, Bristol and North Somerset Group, South Gloucestershire Group and the South West Projects Team. For full details on our other groups please refer to the Annual Review.
As for Sculthorpe Moor, it has been a big year for several projects including the completion of the Reed Bed Restoration Appeal, the opening of our new Aerial Boardwalk and Tower Hide and the start of our ‘Sponsor a Board’ campaign to complete our last stretch of riverside boardwalk to make Sculthorpe 100% fully accessible to all.
