On Sunday 9 July, a small event was held to celebrate David Cobham’s tireless and sterling work for Hawk and Owl Trust, especially the setting-up of Sculthorpe Moor and Fylingdales reserves. As he approaches 90 David, who has been a very long-standing trustee, vice-president and H&OT devotee, has decided the time has come for him to take a step back, although he intends to continue supporting the Trust behind the scenes.
A group of friends and colleagues gathered with David, to look back over his achievements during his time on the board. He was presented, amongst other things, with a life membership of Sculthorpe Moor, a watercolour painting of a Hen Harrier – one of his favourite birds and one that he has been instrumental in developing the Trust’s tagging project, adding to our knowledge of this persecuted species – and some bat boxes.
We wish David a wonderful retirement and would like to say an enormous ‘thank you’ for all his hard work over the years.
