The group is very active in and around the South Gloucestershire/North Bristol area with a busy program of habitat management, nestbox building, installation and monitoring. We also attend many shows and events throughout the year.
Nestbox Installation and Monitoring
The group has set up a dedicated team of volunteers to manufacture, install and monitor nestboxes for barn owl, little owl, tawny owl and kestrel. In addition the group has a farm survey team which work with farmers and landowners on habitat creation and management.
The group is also participating in the Hawk and Owl Trusts ‘Kestrel Highways’ project with 60 kestrel boxes now installed and being monitored in our area.
Habitat management is carried out at Acton Court and dates are arranged for work parties on a fortnightly basis.
Format: Meet at Acton Court to start at 10.00am. Wear gardening clothes and bring your favourite tools ( spade, fork, secateurs, lopper, pruning saws etc).
Move to designated work area (Lisa and I will have pre scouted the offending nettles etc).
Work for about one hour or so then have a quick cup of tea/coffee and be off home by 12.30pm or so.
Work parties may be cancelled if the weather becomes inclement-but who knows what it will do!
Future dates and times will be discussed and feedback appreciated.
- Please let David Knowles know if you will be attending
