Avalon Marshes Centre
Event Day Activity for Saturday 29 March 2014
With the hide completed and scrapes in place, we need to plant hedges to make screens to avoid frightening the birds near the paths. The Avalon Marshes Young Wardens will make a start the previous weekend, when we will finish off the 1300 plants we have to put in before the end of the month!
Come and join in on a weekend task day and help us develop Shapwick Moor into an amazing place for wildlife and people. Everyone is welcome! No special skill or expertise is needed, just enthusiasm, a sense of fun and your muscles! We provide all the tools (please bring your own gardening gloves and sensible footwear).and will explain why we are doing the work and what we hope to achieve on the Moor. It’s a great team of people that welcomes newcomers.
We meet at the Shapwick Moor Car Park and start work at 10.00am. Bring your own packed lunch (Winter tasks often involve a fire, you are welcome to bring potatoes in foil just in case!).Children are always welcome if accompanied by parents.
Occasionally we need to alter task dates at short notice – please email or phone Simon (E: firstname.lastname@example.org | T: 01300 320008) or Baz (E: email@example.com) to let us know you plan to join us.
If you know of any groups of people who want a ‘one off challenge’ we can often arrange conservation tasks that can be completed in a weekend – we have plenty to do!
