Event Day Activity for Sunday 27 April 2014

Yellow Rattle Collection
Work party at Shapwick Moor

Two very different activities today. The North Somerset Group have purchased a new bench for the reserve, we need to erect this – easier said than done! Meet at the Reserve Car Park 10.00am.

At the Avalon Marshes Centre we have a family day (in conjunction with RSPB, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Butterfly Conservation and others) we will be running some HOT activities for visiting families and need lots of volunteer helpers… no experience necessary and good fun guaranteed! Please contact Simon Beard if you can help – details below.

General Info

Come and join in on a weekend task day and help us develop Shapwick Moor into an amazing place for wildlife and people. Everyone is welcome! No special skill or expertise is needed, just enthusiasm, a sense of fun and your muscles! We provide all the tools (please bring your own gardening gloves and sensible footwear).and will explain why we are doing the work and what we hope to achieve on the Moor. It’s a great team of people that welcomes newcomers.

We meet at the Shapwick Moor Car Park and  start work at 10.00am. Bring your own packed lunch (Winter tasks often involve a fire, you are welcome to bring potatoes in foil just in case!).Children are always welcome if accompanied by parents.

Occasionally we need to alter task dates at short notice – please email or phone Simon (E: simon.beard@hawkandowl.org | T: 01300 320008) or Baz (E: baz.gray@btinternet.com) to let us know you plan to join us.

FYI

If you know of any groups of people who want a ‘one off challenge’ we can often arrange conservation tasks that can be completed in a weekend – we have plenty to do!
