A talk by Matt Postles of the Bristol Natural History Consortium.

Matt has a research background in zoology but has always been involved in conservation volunteering and engaging others in science and environmental issues. Whilst studying for a masters in Environmental Management in 2011, Matt joined the team at Bristol Natural History Consortium leading their volunteers programme and supporting public participation in wildlife recording known as ‘BioBlitz’.

In this talk he will explore the world of public engagement with nature, conservation and biological diversity.

  • What are we trying to share with people?
  • Why is it important?

Using examples from across the UK and the latest research, he will look at some of the barriers to engaging people with these issues and the creative ways that passionate individuals and organisations are tackling them.
