It is great news to hear that the Hawk and Owl Trusts East Midlands Group has recently secured a grant from the the Cory Conservation Trust to help local farmers and landowners in the Rutland area to install owl nest boxes on their land as part of the Farmland Bird of Prey Initiative.
Members of the group will visit anyone interested and assess the suitability of the surrounding habitat, giving help and advice on how to create an ideal habitat should one not already exist. These boxes, should suitable sites with willing farmers and landowners be identified, will be supplied and erected free of charge. Applications will be looked at on an individual basis.
If any farmer or landowner is interested in having a survey in the Rutland area, and subsequently if suitable, an owl box erected on their property, then please email the East Midlands Group Chairman, Simon Dudhill, by Clicking Here or call him on 07798 713735.
