If you want to get involved with the work of the Hawk and Owl Trust via a local group and you live in the South Gloucestershire area then we have the perfect opportunity for you.
We have lots of different tasks that we need help with from nest box monitoring and conservation work through to record keeping for these projects.
The South Gloucestershire Group Vice Chairman Stuart Robson elaborates:
‘We need help to organise our group’s conservation work, which includes running our Farm Team (we have in excess of 50 farms and other landowners in South Gloucestershire and the list is growing – where we promote habitat creation etc.); our Nest box Team (responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of 340 boxes) and our Kestrel Highways project (monitoring and maintenance of 55 boxes).
In addition we need help keeping our group Conservation Records for all these projects. I keep them electronically in my own way but we need a more efficient programme designed specifically for our work and I am not PC wise enough to able to do that.
We have a great team of active members in our group and they have really stepped up to the plate. We already have some of our members filling other posts such as our Chairman and Education Unit Organiser (visiting local events, schools etc.) Treasurer/E-newsletter Editor and a Speaker Meetings Organiser. The remainder are happy to continue with their practical support but are unable to take on organising roles.
Going forward there is potentially much more important Hawk and Owl Trust conservation work for our group to do in South Glos. but we need help to be able carry this out. ‘
So, if you think you can spare a little time and brain power to help organise or administrate for these important projects that really do make a difference please get in touch with Group Chairman Paul Golledge on 0117 939 7582 or email him on firstname.lastname@example.org.
