Norwich Cathedral Peregrines Update – With Sadness we are Reporting Chick 41 has Died

Unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we are announcing one of the chicks that was taken into rehabilitation care back in June, has sadly died.

At the International Bird of Prey Centre, where the chicks were being kept, cared for and were being prepared for their return to Norfolk, Chick 41 was found sadly dead.  Following a post mortem conducted by Veterinary Specialist Neil Forbes, it was found that the results proved to be inconclusive, showing no clear signs of cause of death.

However, following such a turbulent season at the nesting platform on Norwich Cathedral, with the added stress caused by all the events that occurred and the presence of a level of parasites found in all of the chicks (possibly caused by the male bring back disease infested food, whilst he was trying to feed all the chicks on his own for nearly a month), may have been contributing factors to the cause of death to the chicks that have died so far.

We are now left with only Chick YY who is still in the care of the International Bird of Prey Centre and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

As soon as she is deemed fit and healthy enough and ready to be released back into the wild, she will be back in Norfolk.  When this happens we will endeavour to let you know.  Thank you very much for the continued support of our dedicated followers.
