Children at St Cuthbert’s Junior School were busy preparing for the nesting season with the help of Roger Moses from the Hawk and Owl Trust. He showed the pupils photos of various bird species they could see on the Somerset Levels where the Hawk and Owl Trust have a reserve.
Roger also explained how to identify the different types of hawk and owl, by their flight and their cries.
He showed them a large kestrel box of the type that will be installed on the new Morrison’s supermarket site.
He then went on to help them make some nest boxes for smaller birds that will be placed around the school grounds.
